Easter Weekend, 2-5 April, 2010 at Resistance Gallery,
Poyser St, London E2 9RF
Festival of the Art of Japanese Bondage presents kinbaku (aka shibari/Japanese rope bondage) as an artistic inspiration, a performance art in its own right and as a means of erotic communication, whilst sharing knowledge about it and its cultural context in a way that is accessible to all. We present an unparalleled range of talent from around the world and are rapidly establishing a reputation as the Japanese bondage event.
The main venue will be the Resistance Gallery. This is an unique, multi-functional, modern, 2,200sq ft arts, performance & gallery space in the creative heart of Bethnal Green, London E8. They provide art exhibition space, theatre, avant-garde gatherings, cabaret, photographic shoots, filming & video location, live music events, multi media installation experiences, workshops etc.
We would like to thank Club Crimson for generously providing us with the use of their legendary bondage frames. Crimson is a new and very popular London fetish/BDSM play club with a top class array of dungeon furniture that specialises in playing the best rock, metal and alternative music.
Omega Red (aka Alexis D) is a Shibari artist & BDSM performer from Athens, Greece. He is an active member of the local BDSM scene, a political and social activist, and one the very few people who ‘came out’ on Greece’s conservative fetish scene. He was taught Shibari and suspension techniques by his own. He is member of the "Absolute Fetish" team (http://www.myspace.com/absolute_fetish), and he has performed in a variety of major events like: Athens Erotica Festival I, Athens Erotica Festival II, Fetishball @ Second Skin Club, Sinners in Heaven, Fetish Nights @ Club Necropolis and Club UnderWorld, etc.
